Red Dead Redemption Now Playable on PC Through Nintendo Switch Emulators

Last update: Aug 24, 2023

Red Dead Redemption

With Red Dead Redemption's re-release on PS4 and Switch, Switch emulators Yuzu and Ryujinx allow the game to run on PC for the first time. They join a list of day-one playable Switch titles like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Bayonetta 3.

Excitingly, emulation unlocks framrate from the capped 30FPS on console versions. Initial reports found Yuzu more stable, but Ryujinx issued a fix addressing visual glitches.

However, a flawless experience remains elusive as both struggle to maintain 60FPS stability even on high-end PCs, with frequent drops below that target.

As an interim solution for smoother performance, Xbox 360 emulator Xenia can run Red Dead Redemption at true 4K over 60FPS on powerful systems, giving PC players the best way to experience the game currently.

Future Yuzu and Ryujinx updates are expected to significantly boost Switch emulation performance. For now, Xenia satisfies those wanting to finally play this classic Western on desktop. Emulation continues expanding options to access treasured titles.
