RPCSX Emulator Gains Audio and Controller Support

RPCSX Emulator

Developers of the upcoming RPCSX PS4 emulator have released an updated version adding important functionality. Audio output and gamepad support make the prospect of playing PS4 games on PC even more promising.

A video showcases Sonic Mania running smoothly with proper sound, though it may not fully stress PS4 hardware as a 2D title. Still, seeing any game function flawlessly is impressive progress.

Compatibility-wise, RPCSX remains the sole emulator able to boot Bloodborne, but the game is not yet playable. Core emulation is the focus before tackling exclusives.

Following the example of Yuzu and Ryujinx (Switch emulators), RPCSX aims to recreate PS4 infrastructure first. Then native games like Bloodborne may run as those projects did with Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

It's unlikely graphically intense exclusives will emulate soon. However, RPCSX ultimately intends allowing experiences like DriveClub at stable 4K/60FPS, transcending console limitations.

Users can download the latest RPCSX build to test evolving functionality and compatibility. Further updates will refine the project as developers continue striving to realize the PS4 experience on PC.
